Just a pet peeve...
Yes, I'm a woman...Yes, I know the game...Yes, I watch ESPN!!
I have a t-shirt that states this...it's getting worn out and I need another one and can't find it anymore. I originally bought it at the ESPN Zone in Atlanta.
I guess that this is one of my biggest pet peeves - people assume that just because I'm a female that I know nothing about sports (I'm speaking mainly of football here). My husband can vouch for the fact that I can hold my own in a football conversation (and include some soccer, baseball and basketball as well). He can also vouch for the fact that when we used to have the now antiquated Sega Dreamcast, that I used to beat him 90% of the time when we played Madden football together. He'll even admit it...good man, but that's a topic for another blog.
I guess I've never been the "stereotypical" woman anyway - I listen to Sports Talk Radio (WJOX 690-AM - the best show on the station is on right now), but my question is why people can't just GET OVER IT and accept it...there are women that can talk sports and love sports. Alabama even held courses for WOMEN ONLY called Football 101 in the past - they were sold out, by the way.
You can see from my profile that I'm from Birmingham, AL. This is the football capital of the south. How could I have lived here my whole life and NOT know football? I would have been living under a rock...that's how! I guess I can conclude with the fact that my t-shirt speaks for itself...this ain't your grandfather's Chevy anymore...it's 2006. Welcome to the real world! Anyone remember the Sports Babe?
