Ok, so I've had several people tell me that I haven't logged a new blog in a while (which I obviously already knew...thanks for stating the obvious) so...here we go. By the way, don't you people have anything better to do with your time? :)

Anyway, we're 38 days from my favorite season...duh, football season! Didn't you know that's an official season? Oh, that's right, you must have only thought there were 4...summer, spring, winter and fall...well, welcome to Alabama! And guess what makes it seem even closer? It's SEC Media Days kicking off today!!!! Do you hear that sound? It's the sound of the Crimson Tide rolling in!

I couldn't be more excited right now. Now, you might be asking yourself why I'm so excited...I mean, Green Bay shows no signs of any more life than last year on their offensive line and Alabama has a less than exciting home schedule - outside of Auburn (which we can't seem to beat at home anyway) - and the jury is still out on how they'll do this season with a new QB...and too many other positions to think about at the moment. But I'll answer why I'm so excited...it's football season...it's as simple as that. As this newbie blogger has stated many other times...this is the football capital of the south, baby! My 4 year old already knows that 'Auburn' and 'War Eagle' are "bad words" that we don't say in our house. He knows that we root for "Alabama Roll Tide" and he has ALWAYS known that #4 is Brett Favre...almost before he could walk!

On top of all that, I'm sick of seeing baseball on every ESPN station that I have on expanded digital cable at any time of the day and Tiger and Michelle on Sunday afternoons...the Braves stink as usual and golf has ALWAYS been boring to watch. In 38 days we'll FINALLY have the spark in sports that we've needed for the past 8 months.

I got even more excited after going to the Hoover Chamber of Commerce luncheon last week. I know...that sounds strange, but I first was sitting at the same table as Chris Goode. Just seeing Goode on his name tag made me giddy for a moment and then, Dick Burleson was the keynote speaker...you know...SEC official. His stories made me want to put some pads on and hit somebody myself by the time the luncheon was over!

We're so close that I can smell the pigskin in the air (I wish I could feel some crisp air that makes you think about football season, but that will be a while it looks like...for those of you from out of town - we're approaching August in Alabama which is probably the closest to how Hell must feel like that you can get on earth).

All right, before I get accused of beating a dead horse I will simply close by saying...THIS IS ALABAMA FOOTBALL! I'm not slighting my Packers...it's just not as understood down here in the deep south...plus, I wouldn't want to disrespect SEC Media Days being in town today!!! ROLL TIDE ROLL, BABY!!!!!!!
