25 Random Things...
Ok, so on Facebook I was tagged to write 25 random things about myself. I really didn't have time and told one of my friends that tagged me that and then I got nagged and I guess I cracked under the peer pressure! Anyway...here is what I wrote for those few people I know that don't have a Facebook account:
Some of these are things that only very few people know!
1. my favorite television show is 24 - I own every season on DVD...Jack Bauer rocks and there need to be more Americans like him
2. I love football...both college and NFL
3. My favorite teams are Alabama and Green Bay Packers in reference to #2
4. I sometimes call local sports talk radio shows as Southern Cheesehead
5. I married the only boyfriend that I ever had. Marriage is a journey and has rough spots sometimes, but thankfully my hubby believes in God's grace and forgiveness and loves me for me
6. I've never broken a bone in my body
7. I've never learned to ride a bike (mainly because I was scared of #6 changing...my mom broke her arm riding a bike and I associated that and never learned)
8. I was offered a full scholarship to Liberty University my senior year of high school for voice and turned it down because I didn't feel God was leading me there...many people believe that it's because it was 11 hours away from Ernie and my Daddy...those were considerations, but the Lord didn't want me there - period
9. I was born a red head...it turned blond by the time I started school and now it's strawberry blond along with some "enhancements" to cover the gray!
10. I have 2 older brothers
11. My oldest brother is 12 years older than me
12. I was born on a national holiday...July 4th and yes, it's my favorite holiday and my kids believe the fireworks are for my b'day
13. If you know me then you know I'm very outgoing and never meet a stranger, but I used to be shy and hide behind my mother's skirts!
14. My Grandmother lived with us most of my life
15. I never met my mom's parents because they died before I was born
16. I LOVE 80's music even though I know it was mainly cheesy and over produced and the videos were even worse
17. I've met Bret Michaels of Poison and have my picture with him
18. I got married in 1992 (that makes almost 17 years...Glory to God!)
19. I'm still good friends with all 7 of my bridesmaids and had some part in almost all of their weddings too
20. We're praying about and considering adopting a child from Mexico
21. I'm about the only person in America that doesn't think Andy Griffith Show is funny and don't like watching it
22. Two of my friends I have been close friends with for over 30 years
23. I went to a Packer game in December at Lambeau Field when it was 6 degrees and LOVED it!
24. I'm a big fan of Brett Favre and have seen him play live 5 times at 3 different fields
25. My children are the greatest and most challenging all at the same time. It truly is the hardest task I've ever undertaken but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world.
Pastor's wife and mom who knows football, watches SportsCenter and tries to make a difference along the way.

I don't know why...
but a couple of people asked me to post what I sent to the Dunaway and Brown show (greatest sports talk show in the southeast) on my blog with my thoughts on the Sugar Bowl after attending so here it is:

Ok…in case you don’t have enough topics for conversation about the game (ha ha…yeah, right, that’s a funny one, Cheesehead) – here are a few observations from someone who was there (some reality and some with tongue firmly planted in my cheek):
- Halftime show was fabulous (pretty sad when the best part of the game is the halftime show…although I’ve been down on the Million Dollar Band for a few years, but they apparently have made a comeback)
- Their fans – they never let up…they were great and truly supported their team 110% wholeheartedly and 110% of the time no matter what
- Our fans – we have the best and the worst fans all at the same time. Our fans are great when we’re doing great – a little cocky, but mostly great. Our fans are the WORST fans when we’re doing badly and that’s when the team needs us the most. I’m so thankful that I didn’t take my kids…there were expletives that I hadn’t even heard in MY lifetime…some were directed at refs, some at coaches and some at players, but overall I have been VERY disappointed by our fans over the past couple of years from booing our own team to Friday night and I’ve not noticed that before – it seems to be getting worse and alcohol certainly makes it worse.
- Acoustics in the dome are horrible!!!! We couldn’t even hear our band because they basically were sitting up underneath our section…it’s terrible. There were times that you couldn’t hear the announcements about different things like what the band was doing or dignitaries in attendance, etc. (as if we cared), but I heard all 4,386 times President Palmer talked about Allstate…were they the sponsor of the Sugar Bowl? I couldn’t tell…I’m sorry.
- The announcer in the dome for play calling was TERRIBLE!!!!! Surely I’m not the only one that noticed this…he was nasal toned and he got names wrong and couldn’t even get yardage right half the time. You would think for a paying gig you could AT LEAST get to know who the team’s play makers are before the game and don’t pause in the middle of the sentence and wait until the digital board says what yard line the ball is on before announcing it…at least wait to start the sentence so you don’t look so amateur.
- I think we (hubby and me) were the only ones in N.O. NOT drinking alcohol
- The Florida loss took a lot more out of our team than we thought it did.
- Sirhan Stacy needs to come to EVERY game and come out on the field at the beginning of the game
- Our team didn’t even run out of the tunnel or look fired up from the beginning…if the Sugar Bowl, national TV in prime time, wearing a crimson jersey, representing THE University of Alabama, representing the SEC, coming out in the middle of your band playing the fight song and PYROTECHNICS don’t light your fire then your wood is wet.
- We’ve won without Andre Smith before…get over it – he’s not the reason why we lost the game, but his suspension did take some of the spirit away from our team
- Marquis Johnson (#24) is horrible and we should have figured that out after the Florida loss…if not before…hello?
- The timing of the Steele story getting leaked stunk and probably had something to do with how terrible our defense looked
- Next year we need to remember how Urban Meyer must have handed over our play book to Utah and make them pay for it
- Only a few Alabama players actually came to win…Bobby Greenwood (great game), Javier Arenas and possibly Mike Johnson, but he got hurt before we could find out.
- We were sitting behind 4 Auburn fans…why would they be happy that we lost and lost badly? I have been pulling for EVERY team in the SEC…if the shoe were on the other foot I would want them to do well too in their bowl game because I would want the SEC to make a good showing…give me a break – it doesn’t do anything for you fans!
- Outside of the game…I can also add that the Sheraton must not have gotten the memo that the Sugar Bowl was in town…totally ill-prepared and just finished inking the letter to their management
I think I’m through with my rant. Roll Tide anyway…and to add insult to injury I came home to no Packers or Favre in NFL playoffs…what a shame…Southern Cheesehead
